Salonen became World Rally Champion in 1985 and is pictured here driving a Peugeot 205 Turbo 16.
Although he was a very talented driver in 1985, he was up against the world's finest drivers such as Stig Blomqvist (2nd), Walter Rohrl (3rd) and Ari Vatanen (4th).
In the article and the interview he came across as a very modest man who passed on much of the praise he received to his crew etc..
He did say the Pug liked to "fly" and it had to be modified to stop it leaving the ground at every bump etc..!
Mind you they weren't called "Flying Finns" for nothing.
I think most Finnish rally drivers had the same strategy!
No chance of that!
I found my old Playstation 1 the other day with Colin Macrae Rally....I will practice on that instead!
